A Promise Fulfilled

//A Promise Fulfilled

A Promise Fulfilled

“The following is an excerpt from the Dallas Theological Seminary Christmas Devotionals and was written by Dr. Willie Bolden, Executive Director of Community and Church Relations, DTS-Houston.

Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” (Luke 2:29–32, NIV)

It’s difficult to imagine what it must have felt like to be a slave in America. They seemed to have little hope of their bondage ever ending. Sadly, many slaves died never experiencing freedom. But, praise God, the promise of freedom finally came to pass through the courage and conviction of many. And the promise that many believed, one that is deeply embedded in the pages of Holy Scripture—“whom the Son sets free is free indeed”—was physically fulfilled for them.

Of all that God has promised and provided by His death, burial, and resurrection, nothing is more precious to me than my freedom in Christ.

Perhaps you feel the same way. If you do, then perhaps you would be willing to support Provision House in the work we are doing here and as far away as the other side of the world, including:

  • Counseling
  • Prison Ministries
  • Addiction Ministries
  • Curriculum in Thailand
  • Curriculum in the Philippines

Provision House has always run on a “shoestring” budget”. Because of this, I personally am over 2-1/2 years behind in salary and my last

[partial] paycheck was in September. I am absolutely certain God Himself has called me to this ministry, but it has become unsustainable—unless you can help. Every ministry relies on the generosity of those who believe in it and support it.

I don’t know how many thousands have been touched by this ministry. It’s impossible to know how far Provision House has reached when you consider those who have taken our curriculum and passed its principles on to so many others. I do know this: I deeply desire to continue helping my brothers and sisters find true and lasting freedom in Christ—just as I have—just as you have.

If you or a family member has in any way been ministered to by God through Provision House, won’t you please send a tax deductible donation today? If everyone who reads this would just send something, be it $5.00, $10.00, $20.00—anything (some can afford much more), then we would be able to continue this wondrous and glorious work of proclaiming that Jesus is still “binding up the brokenhearted, proclaiming liberty to the captives, and opening the prisons to those who are bound” (Isaiah 61:1, ESV).

It’s Christmas, and Christmas is about giving. You have the opportunity this Christmas to give the message of freedom in Christ to thousands more. Please make a donation today and know that you are helping to change, not only individual lives, but the lives of broken and hurting families as well?

Thank you for prayerfully considering supporting me in my ministry. Your gift is what will make the difference in the lives of thousands more—just like God did for me—just like God did for you.

Thank you, God bless you, and may this be the best Christmas ever for you and your family.

Your friend and fellow servant,
